Meet
Our Team
Ayurveda Medical Group was the brainchild of Amita, a final year Ayurveda
medical student at Maharishi University of Management in Iowa. She was inspired and impressed by
her Professor, Dr.Hemant Gupta, in making available this knowledge of Life to
ordinary people everywhere. Dr. Shirish Nathwani, a medical practitioner in St. John's, Newfoundland,
was inspired by Ayurveda from his undergraduate days (1959-1965) in Scotland.
Having practiced various disciplines of Modern Medicine in U.K., Africa and North
America, he felt an urgent and logical need to incorporate his
practice of modern medicine into an Ayurvedic framework. Ayurveda Medical
Group was created in November 2001, with Dr. Gupta and his daughter, Amita Nathwani, as directors, advisors and
consultants, with the primary goal of educating, and serving people,
everywhere, and making available the highest possible quality of care at
nominal cost to the patient.

Sushrutaji, known today as the father of Plastic Surgery, who lived in the
6th Century B.C. in India.
After practicing in Kenya
and Scotland prior to
1972, Dr. Nathwani made his home in Newfoundland,
where he has enjoyed an increasingly wholistic approach to the management of
his patients, at a group practice "Mount
